Favorites…

One of Patrick’s favorite parts of teaching is having students stop by his office – sometimes for help with assignments and sometimes for counsel and prayer.

One of the students’ favorite parts of their training is monthly outreach.

Some students walk to nearby churches while others wait for a bus for farther destinations. The families enjoy getting to go on outreach too.

A kid favorite is Wednesday afternoons at the CLTC library.

And of course, AWANA!

On the teaching side…Patrick taught Bible Interpretation and Romans during the February-March term. Bible Interpretation is much appreciated by students as they learn how to interpret Scripture with Scripture. “Context is King!” is the basis of the course.

Gordon and Jenny Tobul

Gordon Tobul will be CLTC’s new Principal beginning June 28. Gordon and his wife, Jenny, were CLTC students in 1999 when we first met them! They have studied at CLTC several times and both earned Bachelor of Theology degrees. Gordon went on to earn a Master’s degree through CLTC. Jenny has served as the Dean for Students for several years now while Gordon has been working on a Doctorate from the International Graduate School of Leadership in the Philippines.

Clarkston Cru

It’s been a FULL year with Cru at the high school. Jan is thankful for all the students who have come and other teachers who faithfully invite and pray and bring snacks to meetings.

Celebrating our Seniors 🙂

A definite highlight of the year was the Cru “Breakaway” retreat in February. We took 14 students to Florida where the theme was “Made for More.”

The students spent time in small groups, large groups, and one-on-one mentoring. The sessions included how to grow in their faith, how to share their faith, and how to continue in their Christian walk after high school.

Most of the students had never been to Florida before so they really enjoyed the outside/free time.

Praise:

  1. For Maxon Mani’s leadership as CLTC Principal for the past 5 years. He is stepping down at the end of June and he and his family are moving to Port Moresby where he will join the teaching staff. You can hear Maxon talk about CLTC’s mission on CLTC’s website link. https://www.cltc.ac.pg
  2. For the CLTC Missions Conference June 22-26. There has been a positive response from the 50 church leaders who were invited. Praise that there continues to be a missions opportunities emphasis for the CLTC students.
  3. For the outreach of Cru at Clarkston High School. There have been multiple instances of students from other faith backgrounds attending meetings, and some have voiced great questions!

Pray:

  1. For Gordon as he takes up the responsibilities and challenges of leading CLTC. Pray for Jenny as she supports him and continues in her role as Dean of Students. Pray for good support for Gordon from the college leadership.
  2. The CLTC missions conference will be effective in challenging CLTC students as well as church leaders to have an outward ministry focus. Pray more laborers will be called to the harvest.
  3. CLTC’s farm program continues to struggle. Please pray for integrity and wisdom and improvement in profits so that student fees can be reduced.
  4. Cru will be held during homeroom club time next school year. This will mean shorter weekly meetings but will enable more students (who can’t stay after school) to come. Pray our Cru students will reach out and that the time we have together will clearly explain the gospel as well as grow students in their faith.
