9 Years Later….Finally!

It was with great excitement that Jan and Karis boarded the plane this past June to have a month with Patrick back in Papua New Guinea!

Faculty Retreat and College Classes

  • Faculty held a retreat a week before classes began. This picture includes teachers from K-Grade 2, the wives’ program, community development, and the diploma, bachelor, and master’s programs!

PNG/CLTC Life

  • Village Church – Pastor Mathias is a CLTC graduate.

  • I bought this “whole” chicken when it was frozen. I had no idea it included a head and feet!
  • Homegrown Bananas

  • Rice with chicken, beef, and greens, sweet potato, and sweet potato bread.
  • Headlight dishwashing when the power was out. (And yes, I took my Sponge Bob apron with me. :))
  • Guesthouse water tank refill when we (and those we shared the tank with) ran out of water.
  • Running shower when there was water.
  • Bucket shower when water was scarce.

People and Places

  • Home for many years
  • Stephanie, our former neighbor. She had 6 adorable children whom Karis loved to play with.
  • Joyce and her husband were at CLTC when we arrived.
  • Patrick with Moses and George – 2 former students who have been on the teaching faculty for years.
  • Karis with her two childhood besties who came to visit her one weekend.
  • Tracy was a friend of Kristin’s. She is now a nurse/midwife at the college clinic.
  • “Old Friends”
  • Elizabeth (with grandchild). She and her husband, Bosuk, were students in the early 90’s. Her son is now part of the IT Department.
  • The International Primary School where Kristin and Benjamin attended. (It is now a duplex.)

Praise!

  1. Jan and Karis were able to visit PNG and reconnect with many friends, neighbors, and former students who had become CLTC staff.
  2. All our luggage made it. One bag was lost but made it to the college a couple of days later. (That bag had all the books Patrick was giving to the students, and a water filter!)
  3. Benjamin survived the month on his own. 🙂
  4. CLTC’s new solar panels have been installed and the solar power system will soon be operational.
  5. CLTC’s chicken program is continuing to improve! (Read the CLTC newsletter attached to the email we sent.)

Pray:

  1. The farm will continue to improve (production and sales).
  2. CLTC has had a significant increase in student applications the past few years. Pray this trend will continue.
  3. Pray for the proper installation of batteries for the solar panels.
  4. Pray for the 60+ students who will be graduating in early December. Pray they will serve with wisdom and love as they return to ministry in their churches.
  5. Patrick’s visa will be approved soon for his next trip – end of January to the end of March 2024.
